The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, says the set date to complete the Abuja rail project before May 29, 2024 is achievable.

The FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom gave this indication while inspecting the rail facilities and the ongoing access roads to the train Stations in Abuja.

Shortly after inspecting the Metro Train Station in Central Area to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Wike expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far, and assured that the project would be part of the projects that would be inaugurated by May to mark President Tinubu’s one year in office.

“We are working day and night to see that the promise we made to President Bola Tinubu and residents of Abuja, that by May, Mr President will ride on the Metro line, that is only the key thing”.

“We want to have access roads to the various train stations, because if you do not create access roads to the communities who will be using the train, then the aim is defeated”.

“You have heard what the representative of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Limited said that they will be working day and night to see that the project is completed. For me, it is a major project, so that it can reduce the influx of vehicles into the city. It is going to help us,” Wike said.

In Bassan-Jiwa Station, near Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the FCT Minister was pleased with the level of work done by the contractors.

At Wupa train station Idu however, Wike advised the contractor to replan the car park for easy access.

The FCT Minister also inspected the ongoing construction of a single lane expressway from Idu Industrial Layout , that connects to Zuba.

On availability of funds and safety of the sites, Wike who emphasized that the Federal Capital Territory Administration was prepared to adequately fund the Rail project, assured that security had improved significantly in the territory.
