Abuja Market Women, Men Officially Welcome Remi Tinubu

In recognition of her tremendous support for the Nigeria Women and vulnerable groups, Abuja Market Women and Men have officially welcomed Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to the seat of power.

The National President of the Association, Mrs Felicia Sani led hundreds of women in their white and green attires to the old parade ground Abuja, to honour Senator Oluremi Tinubu, whom she described as a woman clothed with humility and a heart of gold.

Mrs Sani also said the Association has adopted President Tinubu’s wife as one of their members, in view of her antecedents in poverty alleviation and Inclusivity promotion.

“We have adopted wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu because of her love for market women and Nigerians in general”.

The Market Women and Men had contributed N100 each to procure tubers of yam, baskets of tomatoes, a large bag of onions and a bag of red bell pepper, as their token of appreciation to Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

One of the Market women who identified herself as Madam Divine Onah said “we have no silver or gold to give to her caliber of person, but just an appreciation to tell her thank you for all her good work for Nigerians, especially women and the elderly”.

“We no get anything to give our president wife. Everything we buy here, she can buy them double double if she want, but this is from our heart, to tell her thank you so that God go touch her to do more”.

According to Mrs. Felicia Sani, Market Women under the Tinubu led Administration were excelling in their businesses because of the peaceful environment provided since assumption of office.

She advised Nigerians to work for the good of the entire country and shun any act that is capable of jeopardizing the peace of the country.

“Crisis would not do anyone good, let those that carry out actions that will ignite violence in the country stop it. Our country, Nigeria is good and there is no place like Nigeria, let us give peace a chance. War will do nobody good”.

She however appealed to the First Lady to give more support to Abuja market women and men to enable them expand their trades and add value to the economy.

“We are trying as women but more support from the first lady is needed”.

Receiving the items, Wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu represented by mandate Secretary FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi pledged to continue to support the market women and men.

“During COVID-19 every where was locked down but markets were open, I appreciate market men and women. It was a terrible time in Nigeria but the market women and men keep providing food for people, we will continue to support women”.
