The Chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu has commended the FCT Administration for working assiduously with stakeholders towards tackling security challenges in the territory and environs.
Maikalangu who made the call at a security stakeholders engagement in Abuja, said it was geared towards rubbing minds on how to curb criminal activities bedeviling residents of the area .
He however applauded the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike for instituting the Ministerial Taskforce Team towards reducing the crime rate in the territory.
Maikalangu, commended the minister for the great achievement recorded in less than one year in office, in transforming the FCT into a haven of admiration through
Rehabilitation of 135 roads.
According to him, exemption of the territory from the Treasury Single Account (TSA)
allowed efficient use of Internally Generated Revenue to stimulate development of the Territory.
In an address,the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike assured residents that plans were under way to effectively tackle the numerous security challenges across the six area councils adding that anyone apprehended will be brought to face the full wrath of the law.
He however tasked area council chairmen to prioritize a monthly security meeting involving all security agencies, traditional rulers, youth leaders amongst others adding that it would go a long way in addressing the menace through intelligent information gathering.
The Minister stressed that the FCT administration will look into the various black spots across the six area councils that have become hideouts for kidnappers to further reduce the crime rate for the safety of all residents.
