The Federal High Court Abuja, has recognized the board of Trustees of the National Automobile Technician Association (NATA) under the leadership of Magaji Mohammed Sani as duly appointed.

Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon held that the plaintiffs filed the suit out of time and as such the suit was dismissed.

The suit was instituted on 12th February 2019 at the Federal High Court in Osogbo, where it was later transferred to Abuja.

In the suit the plaintiffs are seeking the interpretation of the court on the provisions of the law in respect to changing the board of trustees of NATA.

They had alleged that the replacement of all the trustees without a resolution at the national delegate conference is unconstitutional.

In August 2013 Michael Omonayi now deceased was elected president of National Automobile Technician Association, NATA, after changing the board of trustees

In 2018 Magaji Mohammed Sani emerged as the president, he also won his re-election as president in 2021.

Some aggrieved members of the association had approached the court challenging the action of Michael Omonayi.

Justice Olajuwon in her judgment held that the plaintiffs have a right to raise objections to the appointment of the trustee.

But she noted they ought to have done so within 28 days when they noticed the change in the board of trustees.

According to her, the plaintiffs suit was filed out of time which rids the court of jurisdiction.

The suit was subsequently dismissed for been statued barred otherwise filed out of time.
