Wike Directs Establishment Of Additional Police Stations In Gwagwalada

Background

To aid grassroots security in Gwagwalada Area Council, the Minister of the FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike has directed establishment of additional police stations.

The Minister who gave the directive during a town hall meeting in Gwagwalada, immediately directed the Commissioner of Police to work out modalities for the execution of the projects to stem the tide of criminality in the area.

According to him, when established the stations would be in Dobi a border town of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger state and Giri village to handle issues of crimes.

The establishment of the stations would bring the number of Divisional police stations to four in the area council.

The Minister however warned kidnappers and their informants that their end has come, adding that Mr President had given a marching order to adequately secure the territory.

The president has asked me to come here today. The other day I was in Bwari and next week I will go to Kwali. Security is one thing the president promised Nigerians because his job is to protect lives and property. If we can’t protect lives and property, then we have no reason being in government.So, all these criminals, be ready. Your time is up. You know if I say I will do something, I will do it. And now that I am here today, if you know you are an informant or even one of the criminals, the end has come for you. I and security agencies will follow you to the point that you won’t enter Gwagwalada again.” Wike threatened

The Minister reemphasied that president Tinubu has given security agencies matching order to tackle the menace of kidnapping and other forms of insecurity in the FCT and the country at large.

The minister again, cautioned residents against fund raising to pay ransom for the victims of kidnapping.

The CP should work out how we can provide two more police divisions in Gwagwalada. We must do this immediately. It is a security matter and must not be bogged down by bureaucratic bottlenecks.

“The president has given me power to buy more vehicles. By next week, we shall give more vehicles to all police stations.We shall give them modern communication gadgets. ” Wike said

On issues of abandoned structures being used by criminals to perpetrate their henious crimes that needed to be pulled down, Wike directed the Council Chairman, to communicate his office for quick actions.

The FCT minister noted that he would graciously approve the demolition of any structure that poses security threat to residents’ lives and property, while those that are habitable would be given out to residents for occupancy.

More so, Wike who promised to complete the long abandoned Gwagwalada General hospital , equally promised to dualise the road leading to the teaching hospital in Gwagwalada.

Earlier, the chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Abubakar Giri and Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Muhammad Magaji unanimously called for security patrol vehicles and establishment of additional three Divisional police stations, with one at Dobi, Giri and Gwagwalada township.
