In a strategic initiative aimed at fortifying the country’s security apparatus, the Minister of State for Defence,
Bello Matawalle has presented two cutting-edge unmanned water vessels, to President Bola Tinubu at the Villa.
Named S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, these unmanned ships will be deployed in combatting insecurity across vital maritime zones, including the Niger Delta and the Lake Chad.
According to a statement by the Director Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike this aligns with Matawalle’s vision to leverage innovative technologies, enhancing the Nigerian military’s efficacy in tackling contemporary security challenges.
Addressing. President Tinubu, the Minister expressed confidence that these state-of-the-art military and intelligence capabilities would make substantial contributions to ongoing intiatives in addressingg insecurity in Nigeria.
It says the Minister’s inspection tour of prominent US military hardware companies last year, signals a strategic partnership that not only reinforces Nigeria’s security but also opens avenues for potential local production in collaboration with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).
The inspected facilities encompassed rapid deployment mobile RADAR systems, unmanned water vehicles, drone ground control stations, and compact biometric search-scan systems.
The donation represents a pivotal stride towards fortifying the nation’s defense infrastructure with cutting-edge technology.
