Akpabio Declares Seats Of Umahi, Giadam Vacant

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has declared as vacant, seats of Senator David Umahi and Ibrahim Giadam, representing Ebonyi- South and Yobe-East Senatorial Districts, following their appointments as Ministers of the Federal Republic.

Akpabio made the declaration during plenary in Abuja.

Akpabio said the declaration of vacancies in their seats was in accordance with section 68 subsection (1) d of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), may therefore wish to commence the process of bye elections for the two Senatorial Districts
immediately.
