ACCI Gets New President

Chief Emeka Akajiogu Obegolu has emerged the new President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI.

The immediate past Managing Director/CEO of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba is now also the 1st Deputy President of the Chamber while Dr Aliyu Idi Hong emerged as the 2nd Deputy President of ACCI while the new Director General is Sir Agabaidu Chukwuemeka Jideani.

In his inaugural speech, the New President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Akajiogu Obegolu promised to take the Chamber to a greater height through implementable trade and economic programmes in line with the current international best practices.

He said for over 37 years, ACCI has been a pilar of economic growth and a hub for trade facilitation as well as an advocate for members of the Chamber.

According to him, the Chamber has played a pivotal role in Promoting trade and facilitating business partnership towards repositioning Nigeria’s economic and trade development.

He commended the past Presidents of ACCI for their commitment in contributing to the growth of the Chamber and the host Community, FCT as well as Nigeria at large in the area of economic development.

Earlier, the Former President of ACCI, Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar said the Chamber under his leadership in the last three years had been able to train and empower thousands of stakeholders in the Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs and various Entrepreneurs through the ACCI BEST Centre programmes.

According to Dr Abubakar, the Chamber has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, with the University of Abuja on the establishment of Free Economic Trade Zone towards empowering students of the Institution and boosting the revenue base of the University.

He therefore solicited for support for the new leadership of ACCI towards taking the Chamber to a greater height and contribute to national economic development.

On his part, the New 1st Deputy President of the Chamber, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba promised to contribute his wealth of knowledge and experience to the progress of ACCI.

Prof Adesugba emphasized the need for effective public private sector collaboration towards repositioning the nation’s economic.
