Intensify Efforts For Sustainable Peace – Tinubu Urges Troops

In a resounding call for enhanced national security, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces,
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has urged the Armed Forces to redouble efforts in ensuring sustainable peace, security, and development.

Speaking at the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2023, President Tinubu commended the Armed Forces for their non-partisan conduct during recent elections and acknowledged their heroic efforts in combating insurgency and terrorism across Nigeria.

He emphasized the conference’s significance as a platform for the Nigerian Army to draw lessons from past operations and training exercises, stressing the military’s pivotal role in national security.

President Tinubu called on the Armed Forces to remain dedicated and unwavering in addressing security challenges.

The President highlighted his administration’s proactive measures, including the procurement of new platforms, to improve the Armed Forces’ capacity and combat efficiency.

The Minister of Defence,
Mohammed Badaru
described the conference as an avenue to assess the Nigerian Army’s preparedness and operational readiness.

He encouraged the Armed Forces to continue safeguarding the nation, assuring government’s support to families of deceased and injured personnel.

On his part, the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, praised the tireless efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in maintaining peace.

He also noted the historical importance of Borno State in the fight against insurgents and highlighted the critical need in implementing the Borno restoration plan to end humanitarian disasters caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.

The convener and Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoheed Lagbaja, underscored the conference’s significance in reviewing achievements and strategizing for the future.

He highlighted the theme, “Personnel Motivation for Effective Operational Performance in a Joint Environment” and affirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to addressing security challenges.

General Lagbaja expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for approving the payment of group life assurance claims, acknowledging the President’s support for welfare initiatives.

Earlier, President Tinubu inspected ongoing projects and addressed troops of the Joint Task North East, OPERATION HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, underlining his commitment to the nation’s security.
