The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing infrastructure in rural areas nationwide.
The Chairman, House Committee on Rural Development, Marcus Onobun made the announcement in Abuja during the Committee’s inaugural meeting.
While expressing the Committee’s readiness to interface with relevant Ministries and Agencies, Mr. Onobun expressed his resolve to synergize with other Standing Committees where there are overlapping functions.
On his part, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Mohamud Audu solicited cooperation of all stakeholders in efforts to ensure accelerated development for rural areas across the country.
He also harped on the need to replicate development in urban areas to the rural areas.
All the Members of the committee who spoke during the inaugural meeting, pledged solidarity to the leadership of the Standing Committee.
The lawmakers also assured Nigerians of their collective resolve to improve rural infrastructure including electrification, engineering, among others.
