The suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar, UNICAL, Professor Cyril Ndifon, who is accused of sexual assault, is to be arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC for alleged corruption.

ICPC has concluded an investigation into Ndifon’s alleged harassment of his students and found sufficient evidence to charge him with sexual harassment, official corruption, and abuse of office.

The charges are by Sections 8, 18, and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

The charge sheet (number: FHC/ABJ/CR/511/2023) outlines four counts in total.
One of the counts states that between June and September 2023, Ndifon used his office as the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar to solicit nude photographs and videos from a Year 2 Diploma student named Ms ABC (not real name) via WhatsApp chats on his telephone number, 0803*****, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

ICPC Spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, stated in a release that Ndifon will be arraigned on a date yet to be determined by the court.

Ndifon was arrested in Calabar on October 4, 2023, by ICPC in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) after he ignored several invitations extended to him.
