Ministry Of Transportation Introduces Railway E-Ticketing

The Ministry Of Transportation has introduced Technology to ease the stress Railway passengers face in procuring tickets.

The Minister of Transportation Senator Saadu Alkali who stated this in Abuja said passengers will now have to buy their tickets online.

According to the Minister, this is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at curbing the menace of Ticket Racketeering.

He explained that passengers boarding the Lagos-Ibadan, Itakpe-Warri Railway Route can now breathe a sigh of relief as commuters will be able to purchase online.

Senator Alkali said that the sale of tickets for the passengers plying these routes would commence on the first of November twenty- twenty-three.

The Minister of Transportation, while highlighting the importance of the transportation sector, explained that the essence of the initiative was to ensure security, accessibility, and transparency during the purchase of tickets.

The essence of E-Ticketing is to make it easy for our customers to get their tickets, to ensure the security of our passengers on board the train, to avoid Racketeering, this administration desires to ensure zero tolerance on corruption as I launch it today, this would ensure the economy, growth and development of our citizens”.

Senator Alkali further stressed that measures have been put in place to strengthen the operations of the Nigerian Railway Service.

On his part, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Service, Mr Fidet Okhiria, said efforts are underway to enhance service delivery for its customers
