The Senate has called for adequate investment in the agricultural sector to boost the nation’s revenue.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, represented by the chairman, senate committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, stated this in Abuja, during the 7th post-Graduate convocation ceremony of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic studies in affiliation with the University of Benin.
He explained that if the nation’s agricultural potential in groundnut, Cocoa, palm produce among others were harnessed it would diversity the country from its current mono-economic base for an improved Gross domestic product (GDP).
The Speaker, House of Representatives, Doctor Tajudeen Abbas, also said that the present administration is commited to repositioning the education sector in line with contemporary challenges in the country.
He told the audience that the nation needs quality education curriculum for its growth and development.
On his part, the Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic studies, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman urged the graduants to be good ambassadors of the institute.
