The Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu, has flagged off the 2nd phase of distribution of palliatives to vulnerable residents in the Council.
Speaking at the distribution centre, Maikalangu appealed to the FCT Minister of State, Hajiya Mariya Mahmud to consider more allocation to AMAC whenever there’s intervention from the federal government or the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
He however assured all residents of the council that the subsidy removal palliatives geared towards mitigating effects of the untold hardship on residents will be distributed accordingly especially to the less privileged.
Earlier, the mandate secretary on agriculture and rural development FCTA, Lawal Kolo Geidam said the gesture was in accordance with president Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda to ease the adverse effect of the subsidy removal on Nigerians.
He however urged beneficiaries to desist from selling the palliative items ranging from bags of rice, corn among others.
He added that the palliatives would be distributed irrespective of ethnic, religious or party affiliation as the beneficiaries were drawn from the 12 political wards of the Council.
