As part of efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents in the territory, the Nigeria Police is partnering neighbouring states to secure the nation’s capital.

Parading some criminals arrested for various crimes, ranging from murder and kidnapping to illegal possession of ammunition, the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the police will not relent in addressing the rising cases of insecurity in the territory.

DCP Adejobi explained that operations carried out so far by officers of the Force have continued to yield positive results as Fifty-four suspects were arrested, some of whom are already facing prosecution in court.

He added that ninety two firearms, seven hundred and sixty live ammunition, fourteen vehicles, and one RPG, among other items, were recovered.

Part of those paraded by the PRO are two suspects, Adama Joy Joseph and Vandora Oreoluwa Davies, arrested for the murder of Mr. Adeniyi Ojo in Kwara State.

Also notable among those paraded were five suspects connected to the kidnapping of a Swiss national, Diego Tanner in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the Force PRO “This unfortunate incident occurred on May 30, 2023, when Mr. Tanner was abducted and subsequently released after a ransom payment of 2000 euros.

“The dedicated operatives of the IRT, tirelessly working to bring criminals to justice, put to use, the Nigeria Police Force’s ICT apparatus and arrested all the five principal suspects involved in this kidnapping case.

This operation not only led to the apprehension of the suspects but also resulted in the recovery of critical evidence, including one assault rifle, two locally fabricated single- barrel long guns, and an empty magazine”.

On the issue of alleged rising cases of male organs disappearing in the territory, Adejobi urged residents to rely on the police for proper investigations, as these claims cannot be substantiated.
