The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen has extended his congratulations to teachers in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
Recognizing their invaluable contributions to society, the Speaker, who himself has a background in academia, described teachers as “destiny molders and life changers”.
In acknowledging the crucial role played by teachers in the mental and behavioral development of their students, Dr. Abbas emphasized that educators not only impart knowledge but also act as guardians and mentors to their pupils at all levels of education.
Furthermore, the Speaker assured teachers of the 10th House’s commitment, under his leadership, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the advancement of the education sector and the improvement of workers’ welfare within the sector.
The Speaker urged teachers to continue instilling discipline and moral values in their students, recognizing that such qualities serve as a countermeasure against crime and other societal vices.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in the education sector to ensure that graduates possess both academic qualifications and moral integrity, enabling them to become future leaders.
