CDS Seeks More Funding For Armed Forces

The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa, has appealed to the Federal Government for increased budgetary provision for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

This is contained in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau in Abuja.

According to the statement, the CDS appealed when he led a delegation of Senior Officers from the Defence Headquarters to visit the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in his office.

The CDS stated that the primary objective of the visit was to appeal for enhanced budgetary allocation to the Armed Forces to enable them to fulfill their constitutional mandate effectively.

General Musa also emphasized the need for adequate funding to expedite the completion of the permanent site of the Armed Forces Complex.

He also urged the Minister to address the accommodation deficit in Barracks and Bases through budget allocation, highlighting its significance in bolstering the Armed Forces operations.

General Musa reiterated the Armed Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria by eradicating criminal activities.

Responding to the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their pivotal role in stabilizing national security and for their resilience in facing security challenges despite constraints.

He assured the Armed Forces of Nigeria of his ministry’s unwavering support and emphasized the importance of aligning the budget cycle with the nation’s critical security challenges.

Senator Bagudu also conveyed his confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to overcome the prevailing security challenges plaguing the country.
