Nigeria’s rising sensation, Victor Boniface, has won the 2023/24 Bundesliga Player of the Month award for August.
The Bayern Leverkusen power forward who’s coach Xabi Alonso tagged as a special player, made the move from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the 2023 summer transfer window.
Organisers of the topflight league in Germany, made the announcement on their X page (Formerly known as twitter) handle on Thursday.
Boniface beat the likes of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind an FC Union Berlin’s Kevin Behrens to the prize.

The 22-year-old has seen a blistering start to the season, having scored four goals and creating two assists in three matches for the current table toppers Leverkusen.
His exceptional performances have also earned him the Rookie of the Month, becoming the first player since Erling Haaland in 2020 to clinch both titles in a single month.
Boniface made his debut for the Super Eagles last Sunday and created a goal scoring opportunity which Samuel Chukwueze put away to get the sixth goal in Nigeria’s thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe.
Leverkusen will be banking on the Nigerian attacker to continue his impressive form in the league when they face FC Bayern Munich away from home.
No stranger to awards, Boniface was 2022/23 UEFA Europa League top scorer.
