To strike a delicate balance between their homes, marriages, and jobs, maximize their contribution to family cohesion and societal well-being, women have been advised to get creative.

one-day free marriage conference organised by the Safiyya Kassim Marriage AcademySpeakers and counsellors gave the advice at a one-day free marriage conference organised by the Safiyya Kassim Marriage Academy (SKMA) Auchi, Edo state.

The convener of the conference and CEO of SKMA, Safiyyah Kassim said the event was to contribute and reduce the rising spate of divorce and broken homes across the world which put children at the receiving end most of the time, leading to dysfunctional societies.

“It is a fact that women are the home builders in the society, once the woman is armed with useful information on how to handle her duties as a builder of the home, she will do better and once she is able to do better, the society will become better.”

On her part, a guest speaker, Dr. Rafat Abubakar Seghosime advised women to strive towards maternal wellness which encompasses the overall fitness of the mind, body, and soul.

She emphasized the place of mutual respect by spouses and the recognition of the man as the head of the household as taught by Islam.

one-day free marriage conference organised by the Safiyya Kassim Marriage Academy“My advice to career women is to be physically, mentally, and emotionally as well as socially balanced, it is important for women to be financially healthy within their means and that of their spouses, hygiene, intellectual and spiritual wellness, must be imbibed too,” she said.

While noting that every marriage was bound to have its ups and downs, she said prayers, discipline, and patience remain time-tested elixirs for a long-lasting marital journey.

Speaking on ‘How to show up for your marriage: understanding the nature of men,’ the marriage coach, Safiyya Kassim said “A sister must know why she is getting married and the major reason for marriage should be to offer peace to your spouse.”

She encouraged women to see their marriages and their homes as their place primary assignment, noting that placing family second in the race to become rich may end up an exercise in futility once the home breaks into pieces.

Coach Safiyya admonished the women to “All go back home with the intent of offering your husbands peace because men love peace and respect.”

She described “Marrying a man is like buying a device. You have to study how to use it so that you can get the best out of it.”
