Wike To FCTA Mgt Staff – Deliver Or Seek Redeployment

The Minister, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Nyesom Wike has cautioned Management Staff of FCTA / FCDA to deliver optimally in their duties or Seek redeployment.

Wike gave the charge while receiving the handover notes from the Permanent Secretary FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola.

He advised any Director that lacks capacity to deliver under his administration to ask for redeployment to any place of their choice where they can make impact.

The FCT Minister specifically charged Directors in charge of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, AMMC, Development Control Director, Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, Director Transportation Secretariat, Parks and recreation, whose duties falls within his short term plans, to brace up for more work towards restoring the city.

According to Wike “I will call you in the morning and call you at night.if you know you have BP, please buy your drugs. If you can’t cope, tell us now, so that we can put another person there.

“You can’t be Director for nothing, it’s an opportunity for us to tell Nigerians and Mr President that we can’t disappoint. If you are in charge of sanitation, buy your drugs, carry it all the time because I will disturb you all the time to make sure Abuja is clean.”

“Am not a party to abandoned projects and I don’t embark on projects that will take me more than one year…The issue of variation on contracts does not exist in my dictionary.” Wike assured.

The FCT Minister further pledged his commitment to provide the necessary tools for staff to work, but however warned that he would not tolerate excuses.

“Whatever will help you to do your work, we will provide it. Then, what I expect is results…By Monday let there be changes in Urban Mass transportation , sanitation, street lights. Let’s show commitment ” Wike said.

On her part, Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud called for expertise among workers in the development of area councils and satellite towns.

“I am of the firm belief that, together, and with your support, we will replicate what the Minister has done in Rivers State in the nation’s capital, especially at the Area Councils and the Satellite Towns, so that the lives of our people in the rural areas will be positively touched”.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Olusade Adesola, who commended staff for their dedication, reiterated their readiness to work with him to get the desired results.

In his vote of thanks, the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Shehu Hadi, thanked Wike and Mahmoud for accepting to serve in repositioning the FCT, noting that it is an indication that Mr President believed in the capacity of the Ministers.
