Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be absent from City’s next two Premier League matches after a minor back surgery in Barcelona.
The club said 52 year old coach had been suffering with severe back pain and travelled to Barcelona for an “emergency” operation.
City travel to Sheffield United on Sunday and host Fulham on 2 September at Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola will recover in Barcelona until after September international break.

Assistant manager Juanma Lillo will take over first-team training and lead from the touchline during matches in his absence.
City have said the operation, carried out by Dr Mireia Illueca, was a “success” and the Treble winning boss will “recover and rehabilitate in Barcelona”.
Adding that, “Everyone at Manchester City wishes Pep a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him back in Manchester soon.
City sit second in the Premier League in the early stages of this campaign, level on six points with leaders Brighton and Arsenal in third, after beating Burnley and Newcastle in their opening two games.
This will not be the first time the treble winners have had to cope without Guardiola, the first time came was the summer of 2016.
Then A Champions League touchline ban in the middle of 2018.
