Chelsea have completed the signing of Belgium midfielder Romeo Lavia from Southampton for an initial £53m.
The 19-year-old has signed a seven-year contract in a deal which could rise by a further year £5m with add-ons.
Lavia made 34 appearances in all competitions last season but could not help prevent Saints’ relegation from the Premier League.
The Belgian becomes the second player in this transfer window to chose Chelsea over Liverpool.
Newcastle have agreed a fee with Chelsea for defender Lewis Hall, with the player set to move on loan with an obligation to buy.
This loan move comes a few days after left back signed a new contract with the blues.

Hall’s medical has been already been booked for Friday.
The deal will be worth £28m plus £7m in performance related add-ons.
Chelsea will also have sell-on clause included in the deal.
Moroccan Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, has completed a move to Al Hilal from Sevilla, days after Neymar Jr. joined the Saudi League giants.
The 32-year-old stopper, more commonly known as ‘Bono’, has cost Al Hilal a reported €21 million and has signed a three-year contract.
Bounou spell with Sevilla, ends with 58 clean sheets in 142 appearances, and two Uefa Europa League titles.
He joins the list of huge list of European based players to make the move to the Saudi Pro League.
