Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo for a new British record fee of £115m.

Liverpool who earlier agreed a £111m deal for the 21-year-old Ecuador player on Friday.

But Caicedo’s preference is Chelsea and they have finally succeeded with a bid after having a succession of proposals rejected by Brighton this summer.

The fee means Chelsea will break the British record twice in 2023, following the £107m purchase of Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January.

Caicedo, who was left out of Brighton’s squad for their season-opening win at home to Luton Town, is still to have a medical.

The initial fee is £100m, with half of the additional payments said to be easily achievable, while Brighton have also negotiated a sell-on clause.

Everton have completed the signing of English winger Jack Harrison on a season-long loan from Leeds United.

Aston Villa made a late move to sign the 26-year-old but he passed a medical with Everton on Monday.

Everton said he will continue his rehabilitation from a minor hip injury before being available for selection.

Harrison is Everton’s fourth summer signing following the arrivals of full-back Ashley Young, winger Arnaut Danjuma and striker Youssef Chermiti.

Harrison joined Leeds in 2021 for £11m from Manchester City, having been on loan at the club since 2018.

Hammers Sign Ward-Prowse From Southampton

West Ham United have signed midfielder James Ward-Prowse from Southampton for a fee thought to be in the region of £30m.

The England international, 28, has joined the Hammers on a four-year deal.

Ward-Prowse joined Southampton at the age of eight and made 410 senior appearances as well as captaining the club, who were relegated to the Championship last season.

West Ham, who sold England midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m,  have been trying to sign Ward-Prowse for much of the summer.

His arrival follows Mexican Midfielder Edson Alvarez joining the Hammers from Ajax in a deal thought to be worth about £35m.
