The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has called on the Federal and Kaduna state governments to carry out thorough investigation into the causes of the collapse of a section of the historic Zaria Central Mosque.
CAN President, Most Reverend Daniel Okoh in a condolence message in Abuja says the investigation will help in preventing such incidents in the future and ensure the safety of worshippers in all places of worship across the country.
Most Reverend Daniel Okoh also extends hisheartfelt condolences to the Muslim Ummah in Zaria and the entire nation over the tragic loss of lives following the ugly incident.
According to him, the Christain body receives with shock the news of the untimely demise of at least 10 worshippers, and offer sincere prayers and condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident.
” We also extend our thoughts and prayers to the 25 individuals who sustained injuries, and we pray for their quick and complete recovery”.
The CAN President however commends the swift response of emergency agencies in rescuing survivors and providing necessary medical attention.
He calls on religious leaders, to use this unfortunate incident as an opportunity to deepen interfaith dialogue by showing understanding stressing that we can build a society where all individuals, regardless of their religious affiliations, can practice their faith freely and peacefully.
