The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) wants filling stations owners to be more safety conscious in their activities.
Permanent Secretary FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola who gave the warning in Abuja, said the Administration would not hesitate to sanction any filling Station caught violating necessary safety measures.
Mr Adesola explained that improper handling of petroleum products and non -compliance with safety measures as it concerns operational guidelines of managing Filling Stations have been largely responsible for fire outbreaks in most of our Filling Stations.
Mr. Adesola who recalled that in 2022 alone, not less than four Filling Stations were reported to have been gutted by fire within the Territory, expressed optimism that the Ministerial Task Force would work assiduously to reduce occurrences of fire outbreaks in the territory.
He also charged the Committee to begin sensitization now to get the people informed before the dry season.
Responding, the Chairman of the Ministerial Task Force, Alhaji Abbas Idriss thanked the FCT Administration for finding them credible and capable to handle this all important assignment.
