Two victims of alleged Job racketeering, Mr Abdulamalik Ahmed and Ali Yaro at the Federal Character Commission, FCC, say they paid 1m and 2m each to Haruna Kolo for job placement in the commission.

They made this revelation when they appeared as witnesses at the resumed investigation by the House of Representatives ad hoc committee probing job racketeering and mismanagement of IPPIS in Abuja.

Recounting his ordeal, Ahmed said he met the driver of the Commissioner, representing Taraba state, Mr Yisha’u Gambo who promised to get him a job in the FCC on the condition that he paid the sum of N1 million.

He futher explained that he paid the amount to Haruna Kolo’s bank account and that he has evidence to back up his claims.

According to Ahmed, 27 of them were issued appointment letters having paid the requested money.

He however expressed dismay that appointment letters were issued, but they were not posted to any designated MDAs though he was being paid salary for two years before he was disengaged.

He said contrary to information by the FCC that there was no recruitment since 2017, he explained that there was recruitment in 2021 and all the commissioners had a slot.

Also speaking, another witness Ali Yaro from Borno said he was made to pay N2 million to Haruna Kolo through Gbadamosi Jalo’s account who is another victim of Job racketeering, acting as Haruna Kolo’s agent.

On his part, the Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi said the testimonies from the two victims should encourage all Nigerians who have been shortchanged to appear.

The Chairman of the committee, re-invited Kolo to appear before the committee.

He also summoned the driver to the Taraba Commissioner and the Secretary to appear before the committee.
