PBAT’s Economic Reforms Will Attract Foreign Investment – UK

The United Kingdom says President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms will make Nigeria an even more attractive destination for UK inward investment. ⁣

The United Kingdom Foreign Secretary, Mr. James Cleverly, stated this in Abuja while speaking with newsmen after meeting with the President.

While congratulating the President on his election, Mr. Cleverly said it was in the UK’s interests to sustain strong partnership with Nigeria.

He said he had met with the business class, entrepreneurs, technologists, and people in the creative industries. in Lagos and discussed the Africa Investment Summit, to be hosted by the UK in London, early next year. ⁣

Mr. Cleverly said the meeting had a commitment to ensure regular and formal meetings at the Ministerial and senior official levels to preserve the strong foundation stone upon which the bilateral relationship between the two countries was built, was enhanced even further. ⁣

He said they were committed to work even more closely on the important issues of defence and security of trade and investment. ⁣

The UK Foreign Secretary noted that Nigeria had strong platform for increasing her importance across the continent of Africa and globally.

On the situation in Niger, he said the UK welcomed ECOWAS’ and President Tinubu’s decisive action and his strong commitment to democracy and his unambiguous message that violence was not the means to bring political change in any circumstance.

Mr. Cleverly said it was the wish of the UK to see peace and democracy restored in Niger, pledging that the UK will continue to liaise with her friends in the region, membership of ECOWAS to bring about stability, peace and democracy to Niger. ⁣
