The National Hydroelectric Power and Electricity Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) is to roll out measures to cushion the effects of the economic situation on staff.
Managing Director of the Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa stated this at the opening of a retreat organised for Directors, Legal Officers and Secretaries on regulatory compliance, Opinion writing, Policy document drafting and record management for efficient service delivery by the Commission in Minna, Niger State.
Alhaji Yelwa who noted with emphathy, the state of the nation’s economy stressed
that the measures would impact on the productivity of staff for effective service delivery hence the need for the intervention.
“The Commission is poised to come up with social safety measures that would mitigate the brunt of the current economic situation in the country on its workforce” Alhaji Yelwa adds.
“Staff of the Commission like other civil servants in the country are going through the resource crunch which will be impacting on their capacity to effectively deliver on the mandate hence the need for the intervention” he stresses.
The Managing Director explained that the Commission awaits policies to be put in place by the Federal Government to serve as a guide for the wage review.
He stressed that the essence of the workshop was to educate staff on the mandate of the commission for effective service delivery and charged them to judiciously treat every session of the workshop in a practical, interactive, fruitful and impactful manner for a better understanding of the legal processes of the Commission.
Alhaji Yelwa also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the bold steps taken to reposition the country’s economy and urged staff and Nigerians to persevere, remain steadfast and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President for a better Nigeria.
