DSS Regrets Action, Vows To Investigate Scuffle With NCoS

The Department of State Services, DSS says it will conduct a thorough investigation into the recent scuffle between its personnel and Prisons officials, which occurred at the Ikoyi Federal High Court in Lagos.

This is contained in a Statement by the DSS Spokesperson, Peter Afunanya in Abuja.

The Service notes that the incident was regrettable and did not reflect the professional ethics of the Organisation.

It condemns the incident in question, stressing that such behaviour is not endorsed nor encouraged by the Organisation.

The Service explains that it acknowledges and upholds the importance of the Judiciary as a fundamental arm and institution of Government, emphasizing its commitment to respect the Judiciary’s role in nation-building, national development, and security management.

The DSS further acknowledges the significance of a strong and collaborative working relationship with sister security and law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Correctional Service.

The Service also pledged its commitment to maintaining a harmonious environment among all security organizations to better serve the nation and its citizens.

It adds that the DSS aims to address the incident appropriately, ensure accountability, and take measures to prevent such unfortunate occurrences in the future.
