The House of Representatives is to investigate the alleged falsification of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME, results by Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme.
This is sequel to a motion of urgent National Importance sponsored by Awaji-Inombek Abiante from Rivers State at Plenary in Abuja.
Leading the debate on the recent public announcement made by the Joint admission Matriculation board, JAMB, accusing Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma of manipulating her UTME results, Mr Abiante said glitches could occur during uploading or downloading of examination results or polls electronically, hence the need to establish facts before making such allegations.
According to him, there is also the need to investigate JAMB’s allegation that some of the 2023 UTME Candidates are parading fake scores and taking undue advantage of the public.
In his Contribution, Mr Sada Soli from Katsina state said he believed that Miss
Mmesoma who is a minor was manipulated by some adults for self gains and investigation must be carried out to prove her innocence.
Also contributing to the debate, a member Mr Iduma Igariwe, said there should be an investigation to know if the young lady was manipulated and that the investigation would reveal if JAMB had structural issues.
Ruling on the motion, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu who presided over plenary urged JAMB to suspend further actions on the matter until Investigations are concluded.
