IPP Abuja Garki Neighborhood Rotary Club, Handover To Aderogba

The Immediate Past President, Abuja Garki Neighborhood Rotary Club, Rotarian Zainab Omowunmi Owonikoko, has officially handed over the baton of leadership to the new President, Rotarian Ade Aderogba.

Performing the handing over ceremony in Abuja, Rotarian Zainab Owonikoko expressed confidence in the ability of the new President, and stressed the need to keep the Club’s flag flying higher, especially on the mandate of making the world a better place for all.

She also stressed the need for synergy among members towards sustaining the strides the club has attained in executing people oriented projects in adopted communities.

Her words:” our aim is to continue to serve humanity”.

Receiving the Rotary Club insignia, the new President of Abuja Garki Neighborhood Rotary club, Rotarian Ade Aderogba promised to work round the clock, in collaboration with club members to create hope in the world.

Aderogba who recalled the numerous achievements of the Immediate Past President, Owonikoko who is also the first female president of the Garki Neighborhood Rotary club, in the area of women empowerment, support for persons with disabilities and upgrading of one of the adopted school clinics, said with synergy he would strive to consolidate on the already laid foundation.

His words:” we will create hope in 7 key areas of the club to promote peace, support education to reduce the rate of out of school children, encourage tree planting towards building an eco friendly environment, make provision for scholarships for some indigent students in adopted communities and promote Maternal Health as well as champion the course of water and sanitation hygiene, WASH.

“In the out gone Rotary year we empowered over 20 women with sewing machines, grinding machines, wheel Chairs and even gave start up capital for some persons. With synergy , this Rotary year will be another great year. Starting from our adopted village, Shafin. We must put all hands on deck .

In a word of advise, the Assistant Governor of the Club, Rotarian Angela Agbayekhai commended the time consciousness of the club members and urged the new President to give special attention to the execution of people oriented projects towards transforming the society.

On his part, a vibrant Rotarian, Sikiru Adetono Owonikoko emphasized the need for members to be committed to the course of Rotary and make regular attendance of the fellowship a matter of priority.

High point of the handover ceremony was induction of new members into the club and the inauguration of new board members for Rotary 2023/2024 year.

With unity of purpose and in one accord, the Garki Neighborhood Fellowship members unanimously and melodiously rendered some rotary songs with excitement to the admiration of invited guests.
