Speaker Refutes Unsuitable Comments By His Aide

The Speaker of the House of Representives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas has dissociated himself from some unsuitable comments made by one of his aides who granted an interview to a national daily.

In a statement in Abuja signed by the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Kirshi, the Speaker explains that the said Aide, Mr. Godfrey Gaiya, did not have the official permission to grant such an interview.

He therefore notes that the comments made were those of Godfrey Gaiya and not his.

The Speaker further explains that for the avoidance of doubt, he has appointed a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, who serves as his Spokesperson and all official statements come from him.

According to Mr Abbas, he has tremendous respect for and enjoys same from Former President, Muhammadu Buhari, and the Immediate Past Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmed El-rufai, and will not say or do anything that will negatively affect his good relationship with them.

He, however urges the public to take note.
