The Commander General of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Dr Usman Mohammed Jahun has felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
Speaking with newsmen on the occasion in Abuja, Dr Jahun advised them to use the occasion in praying for a secured and better Nigeria.
He also stressed the need for them to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration towards providing the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians.
According to him, the task of repositioning Nigeria for greatness required the prayers and support of everyone irrespective of religion, tribe or political differences.
The Commander General said VGN had already mobilized and deployed its officers and men to compliment the efforts of other formal security agencies in protecting lives and property before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration nationwide.
While advising officers and men of VGN against acts detrimental to the objectives of the Organization, the Commander General emphasized the need for them to be committed to their duties towards combating insecurity and crimes in rural areas most especially in the forest.
He used the opportunity to appeal to President Bola Tinubu to sign the VGN Bill into law to ensure constitutional recognition for the activities of the Organization .
He stated that the move would also strengthen the nation’s security apparatus and enhance national security.
The Commander General explained that officers and men of VGN had already been trained by both Local and International Security Experts and Agencies on intelligence gathering and various security strategies aimed at adding value to Nigeria ‘s security architecture.
He reiterated the commitment of VGN towards supporting the security agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration towards overcoming the challenges of banditry, kidnapping, boko haram, terrorism and other forms of crimes confronting the country most especially in the forest across the country.
