The Director General of National automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Otunba Oluwemimo Osanipin has called on stakeholders to effectively harness Nigeria’s talents and potential in auto sports to enhance the development of the sector in the country.
Otunba Oluwemimo Osanipin made the call while speaking during an Auto Sports Show in Abuja.
He described auto sports as the hallmark of technological advancement, the ability to take a standard vehicle and with technical knowledge, modify it to suit every situation which is more than just fixing cars but the application of science to conquer challenges.
According to him, the adaptation of auto sports has shaped the global automotive industry.
“We have a lot of talents in auto sports in Nigeria and what we need to do is to refine and polish them because auto sports is a big business. Today we have a 16 year old boy in the UK thriving on behalf of Nigeria and he’s making a living out of it as his parents have relocated to the UK to give him more support, therefore we want to produce more of this young chap hence the need for this event” the NADDC DG stated.

In his words “By bringing structure to auto sports, we’re building a workforce of specialized engineers, safety experts and innovators who will drive our nation forward and contribute to national economic development”.
He expressed NADDC’s readiness to support Niger Auto Sports towards promoting the sector to enhance the growth of the country’s automobile industry.
In a remark, the President of Niger Auto Sports, Dr Zarah Abubakar advised youths to take the advantage provided in auto sports for self empowerment.
She also enjoined the Nigeria Sports Commission, NSC, to develop keen interest towards developing auto sports in the country.
The President of Niger Auto Sports added that plans have been concluded to organise an auto sports event in Ondo State as part of measures to further promote the industry in Nigeria.
