The National Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Moses Cleopas, says the party is positioning itself as a platform for democratic renewal and inclusive governance as Bayelsans intensify their search for credible political alternatives ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Addressing a massive crowd of supporters in Yenagoa, who defied a heavy rainfall to attend a rally, Senator Cleopas described the NDC as “the Noah’s Ark of our time,” offering refuge to the marginalized, voiceless, and those seeking a transparent and accountable political structure.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director of New Media of the NDC in Bayelsa State, Gabriel Ukuta.
The statement commends the resilience of Bayelsans and urged citizens to embrace the movement for genuine democracy and people-centered leadership.
According to the statement, residents from across the eight local government areas of the state trooped to the venue in a show of solidarity which reflects rising grassroots momentum and growing demands for enhanced participation, equity, and development-oriented policies.
The statement says the turnout underscores increasing confidence in the leadership of the party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
It notes that Senator Dickson’s governance legacy and his ongoing legislative contributions continue to shape discussions around stability, development, and inclusive policymaking in the state.
According to the statement, the Bayelsa State Chairman of the NDC, Dauperebo Ikuromo, welcomed supporters and praised their commitment, saying their presence despite the downpour signals a shift in political consciousness and readiness for policy-driven leadership.
It states that the rally also recorded a significant wave of defections from the APC, PDP, ADC, LP and other parties.
It adds that a former APC stalwart, Selekebina Saboh, led over 10,200 supporters into the NDC, pledging full commitment to the party’s ideology and reform-focused agenda.
Similarly, Mr. Wilson Ayakpo Dayegha from Ekeremor Local Government Area declared his allegiance to the NDC, describing it as the most viable platform for delivering grassroots-oriented governance and credible electoral outcomes.
It adds that notable figures at the event includes Mr. Pabra Igwele, Deputy State Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Fyneman Wilson, representative of the National Leader; Dr. O. Osusu, Mr. Salo Adikumo; Chief Suru Oyarede; Mr. Wisdom Fafi; and Mr. Oyinke Godbless.
