Women leaders of the Labour Party in the South East have passed a vote of confidence in the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti; the National Chairman of the Party, Senator Nenadi Usman and other key national officers, reaffirming their support for the ongoing reforms within the party.
The endorsement was announced after a strategic meeting convened by the Deputy National Woman Leader (South East Zone) in collaboration with the National Organising Secretary.
This is contained in a communiqué jointly signed by the Deputy National Woman Leader (South East), Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu, and National Organising Secretary of the Labour Party, Arc. Chinelo Ofoche.
The communiqué pledges commitment to promoting greater participation of women in politics, noting that women’s inclusion is essential to strengthening internal democracy and advancing the Labour Party’s policy objectives.
It resolves to intensify grassroots mobilisation and advocacy to encourage more women to take active roles in party activities and leadership.
According to the Communique, they also agree to fully mobilise female members for the ongoing electronic registration (e-registration) exercise.
It urges women across the zone to prepare for the forthcoming congresses, which they described as critical to consolidating the party’s organisational framework.
According to the communique, the women unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Alex Otti and Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu for what they described as exemplary and impactful governance in Abia State.
It also commends Senator Nenadi Usman for providing stable and purposeful leadership at the national level, alongside Senator Darlington Nwokocha, National Organising Secretary, Arc. Chinelo Ofoche, and Deputy National Woman Leader (South East), Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu.
According to the communique, the women leaders pledge to sustain unity within the party, deepen grassroots engagement, and continue advancing initiatives that amplify women’s voices in the Labour Party and Nigeria’s political system.
