No Faction, There Is Only One PDP – Wike

todayMarch 25, 2026

Background

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims of division within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the party remains one and united.

Wike who stated this shortly after inspecting ongoing and completed projects in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, emphasized that reports of factions within the party were unfounded.

According to him, internal disagreements should not be mistaken for a split.

He maintained that the PDP remains focused ahead of its national convention.

Wike stated categorically that there is no faction within the PDP, stressing that the party structure remains intact.

He noted that while some members may have personal grievances, such issues do not translate into division.

The minister dismissed references to camps or blocs within the party as mere speculation.

He insisted that the PDP continues to operate as a single political entity.

The FCT Minister questioned the basis of claims suggesting that the PDP is divided into factions. He told journalists that he was unaware of any such camps being referenced.

According to him, the idea of factionalization is often exaggerated by external observers.

Wike reiterated that the party leadership remains committed to unity.

He emphasized that the PDP’s focus is on strengthening its internal cohesion.

Speaking further, Wike acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in any political organization and stressed that such differences should not be misconstrued as a breakdown of the party.

While urging party members to remain committed to collective goals, Wike noted that even within families, differences of opinion occur without leading to separation.

On the issue of reconciliation, Wike said efforts are ongoing and will continue alongside preparations for the national convention.

The minister called for continued cooperation among party stakeholders and expressed optimism about the party’s future ahead of the national convention.

Addressing broader political concerns, Wike urged PDP members to remain focused and avoid distractions, adding that the strength of the party lies in its ability to manage differences internally.
