Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention slated for March 29, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has intensified preparations, calling on members to embrace reconciliation and unity as a foundation for a successful gathering.
Speaking during the 107th NEC meeting in Abuja, Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), Abdulrahman Mohammed, said the party was entering a critical phase that demands collective responsibility and renewed commitment.
He described the successful conduct of the recent State and Zonal congresses as a clear demonstration of the PDP’s enduring democratic ideals and capacity for orderly self-governance.
Mohammed emphasized that the congresses were not merely administrative exercises but a call to service and unity, urging those who emerged victorious to remain magnanimous.
He reiterated that the PDP remains a “better alternative” and a single, indivisible family despite internal differences.
The Chairman also commended the National Convention Planning Committee, led by Ambassador Okezie Ikpeazu, for what he described as diligent preparation and strategic coordination, expressing confidence that the convention would reposition the party as a formidable political force.
He further acknowledged the “uncommon sacrifices” and “doggedness” of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in stabilizing the party through recent legal and political challenges
while reaffirming commitment to the rule of law and inclusiveness, stressing that there are “no victors and no vanquished.”

In a communiqué co-signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, the NEC expressed satisfaction with the outcome of congresses held nationwide, describing them as peaceful, transparent, and credible.
The committee commended party leaders, stakeholders, and members for their discipline and adherence to due process, noting that these efforts have strengthened internal democracy.
The NEC also reviewed the ongoing electronic registration of members and praised the progress recorded, reaffirming its commitment to a credible, technology-driven membership database.
On the forthcoming convention, the committee affirmed the zoning formulae and noted that the sale of nomination forms has commenced and advised aspirants to comply strictly with approved guidelines and timelines.
The NEC declared its full readiness for the convention, directing all relevant organs to ensure seamless coordination for a transparent and successful exercise, themed around inclusiveness, unity, and renewal.
It also reiterated the supremacy of the party, urging members to remain disciplined and committed to the collective interest of the PDP.
With the convention only days away, the PDP stands at a crossroad of total restoration, aiming to transform from a caretaker phase into a fully revitalized governing force.
