todayMarch 20, 2026

Background

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Council, Grace Ike, has extended warm felicitations to Muslims in the FCT on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

In statement in Abuja, Ike described Ramadan as a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, sacrifice, and renewed devotion to the service of humanity, noting that the commitment demonstrated by Muslims during the fasting period remains commendable and inspiring.

She said the values of patience, tolerance, compassion, and generosity imbibed during Ramadan are essential for promoting peaceful coexistence, social harmony, and national development.

The NUJ FCT chairman urged Muslim journalists and Nigerians at large to sustain these virtues beyond the festive period, stressing that unity and mutual respect are critical in strengthening the nation’s fabric.

According to her, Eid-el-Fitr provided an opportunity for Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace diversity as a strength and work collectively toward national cohesion and progress.

Ike also called on citizens to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, emphasising that the celebration should be marked not only by festivity but also by sharing and empathy.

She further urged leaders at all levels to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice and service embodied in Ramadan by prioritising inclusive policies, accountability, and the overall well-being of the people.

While wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, she also advised Nigerians to celebrate responsibly and in line with public safety guidelines.

Ike expressed hope that the blessings of the season would bring renewed hope, unity, and prosperity to the country.
