ADC : FCT Chapter Nullifies Senator Ireti’s Suspension

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has nullified the suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe, describing the action by some ward officials as unconstitutional and a violation of party procedures.

Emmanuel Destiny who stated this at a news conference in Abuja said the alleged suspension did not follow due process and therefore has no legal standing within the party.

He explained that the party’s national leadership had not received any formal petition or complaint against the senator, stressing that disciplinary actions must follow established constitutional procedures.

According to him, no individual or ward executive has the authority to suspend a serving senator without first presenting documented complaints through the appropriate party channels.

He also announced sanctions against three Wuse Ward officials accused of initiating the controversial suspension.

They include the ward chairman Kanayo Chukwu, alongside Amanda Pam and Omale Suleiman.

He said the officials acted outside their mandate and undermined the party’s internal governance structure.

Also speaking, the party’s Deputy National Auditor, Princess Nneka Nneboh, said the leadership had earlier urged those involved to follow the proper channel but they failed to comply.

She noted that the party could no longer remain silent in the face of actions that threaten internal discipline and institutional order.

The FCT Secretary of the party, John Hyginus, also criticised what he described as administrative lapses and disregard for the party’s constitution.

He stated that ward and area council chairmen had passed a vote of no confidence on the officials who initiated the suspension.

The meeting, held at the party’s FCT secretariat in Abuja, was attended by several party leaders, including the FCT Chairman, Clement Ihigiato and AMAC Chairman Emeka Nnamani.
