LP Targets Stronger Grassroots Base Through Registration

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening its grassroots structure ahead of key internal activities, including electronic membership registration and upcoming congresses.

Usman stated this while hosting members of the party from Kagarko Local Government Area at her office in Abuja.

She explained that the visit by party stakeholders from her local government was primarily to congratulate her and brief her on recent developments in their community.

According to her, the delegation included members of the local government executive committee, ward leadership and other stakeholders who came to show solidarity with the national leadership.

Senator Usman noted that the local government chairman could not attend the meeting due to the loss of his elder brother, but other officials were present to represent the area.

She expressed appreciation to the delegation for their support and for taking the time to visit her in Abuja.

“I am happy to see them and I give God glory, honour and adoration for bringing them here safely,” she said, while also praying for their safe journey back home”.

The national chairman disclosed that discussions during the visit would focus on strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, particularly in Kagarko Local Government Area.

She added that the meeting would also address the party’s electronic registration exercise aimed at expanding and updating its membership database nationwide.

Usman noted that preparations for upcoming party congresses and other organisational activities would also form part of the discussions.

Earlier, the Youth Leader of the Labour Party in Kagarko, Mohammed Rabiu, who represented the chairman, reaffirmed the commitment of party youths in the area to support Usman’s leadership.

He said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the national chairman and assure her of the unwavering support of party members from her home local government.

Rabiu explained that stakeholders considered it important to be among the first to visit and identify with her leadership being an indigene of Kagarko and previously had represented the area at the National Assembly.

He acknowledged that the party had previously faced internal challenges due to factional disagreements but noted that the situation had improved following a court decision affirming Usman’s leadership.

Also speaking, a party member from Kaduna State, Victor Nasara Makama, called on party leaders to set aside their differences and work together to strengthen the party.

Makama specifically appealed to Lamidi Apapa and Julius Abure to join hands with Usman in promoting unity and stability within the Labour Party.
