The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Dr Nyesom Wike, has concluded his thank-you visit to Gwagwalada with a promise to deliver more developmental projects to the area.
Addressing a large crowd of enthusiastic residents, Wike assured the community that his administration would focus on infrastructure that directly improves the lives of the people.
“Let me specially say I commend and respect the people of Gwagwalada for choosing Kasim as your chairman. This is the voice of the people. Kasim is a very hard-working man. I will work with him to make sure that we provide infrastructure to Gwagwalada.”
The minister also called for a “rainbow coalition,” urging political unity and collaboration beyond party lines for the progress of the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wike thanked residents for their continued support and cooperation.
Commending the people for electing Mohammed Kasim as chairman of the Gwagwalada Area Council, Wike described the decision as a true reflection of the people’s will.
He described the chairman as a hardworking leader and advised him to remain close to the grassroots in identifying and prioritizing the most urgent needs of the community.
Wike also announced the approval of a Third-Class Chieftaincy title for the Gwari people of Gwagwalada, a move widely seen as a recognition of the cultural heritage and traditional leadership of the indigenous community.

“I approve the Chieftancy of Third Class status to the Gwari people of Gwagwalada.”
He further promised to address the water shortage in Zuba, assuring residents that steps would be taken to provide adequate water supply.
“My dear brother Kasim, after your inauguration in June, or before your inauguration, what you will do, sit down with your people and identify the projects you want immediately.”
“You have talked about water, I feel so bad that you don’t have water in Zuba. What I will tell you is that, you should consider it done.
“My dear people, Mr. President has sent me to tell you thank you. Let me tell you, yes, Kasim won under the platform of PDP, but it’s a rainbow coalition. Kasim will support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
“I am so impressed with the turn out of the people of Gwagwalada. It shows how happy you are. And I have always said, politics is like an agreement. If you do for me, I do for you; you fall for me, I fall for you” Wike said.
Earlier, the newly elected Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council , Mohammed Kassim thanked the minister for bringing governance closer to the people and appealed for more basic amenities, especially water supply in Zuba.
The visit which formed part of Wike’s thank-you tour across the six area councils of the FCT, reinforced the administration’s commitment to development, inclusion, and political cooperation.
