FRSC Warns Bolt Drivers, Courier Riders Against Reckless Driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC has warned Bolt Drivers and Courier despatch riders against reckless driving and flagrant disobedience to traffic rules and regulations.

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Sector Commander of FRSC Mr Felix Theman who decried poor attitude of these category of road users stressed the need for them to always respect the rights of other road users.

While addressing a sensitization programme for Bolt drivers, partners and courier riders in Abuja, the sector commander emphasized that the FRSC was not out to restrict or prevent anyone from carrying out legitimate business but to ensure safety on the nation’s roads.

According to him, road safety is a collective responsibility while obeying traffic regulations should be a conscious decision taken by motorists.

“The ultimate goal of every road user should be to return home safely with their bodies intact, therefore the need for every road user to understand the importance of patience, discipline, and the willingness to share the road with others.”

The FCT, FRSC boss who attributed increasing number of road accidents in the territory to failure of most drivers to imbibe basic safety principles urged the bolt drivers and despatch riders to behave responsibly on the road.

The Sector Commander said the FRSC statistics shows that in the year 2025, the FCT recorded one of the highest numbers of road crashes in the country, especially along major routes with high vehicular movement.

He urged motorists, passengers, and other road users to make conscious choices that would guarantee safety on the highways.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders Mr. Femi Adeyemo, who said safety remains a core priority maintained that regular sensitization of FRSC will equip drivers with practical knowledge for effective traffic management.

According to Adeyemo, the initiative will help ensure that both drivers and riders feel confident contributing to safer cities.

The sensitization programme also highlighted findings from Bolt’s Safety Perception Survey released last year, which indicated that about two-thirds of respondents believe ride-hailing services help reduce drunk driving by providing a reliable transport alternative.
