The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has today received all sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN for the conduct of Saturday’s FCT Area Council election.
The collection took place at the Old Central Bank, Garki, Abuja, in the presence of heavily armed security personnel, representatives of political parties, civil society organisations, journalists, and other stakeholders who witnessed the process.
The sensitive materials include result sheets, ballot papers, and Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems BVAS.
The FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Aminu Idris, said all stakeholders were invited to witness the collection of the materials from the CBN.
Mallam Idris maintained that the commission would be transparent and carry all stakeholders along in the conduct of the polls across the six Area Councils.
According to him, adequate security measures have been put in place for the safe movement of the materials to the Area Council offices, while distribution to the Registration Area Centres across the territory will begin on Friday.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner also appealed to residents to come out en masse on Saturday to exercise their franchise.
