The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has called for strengthened collaboration with the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) to promote sustainable growth and innovation in the fisheries and aquatic sector.
In a statement, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, says the partnership would enhance alignment between research, policy, and industry application.
The Ministry explains that the call follows a directive from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which reassigned supervision of fisheries-related research institutes and colleges from the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, ARCN,to the Ministry.

It stresses that the realignment, which builds on the earlier transfer of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, is intended to ensure effective oversight and continuity.
The statement added that the Ministry would leverage ARCN’s research expertise through joint initiatives to support food security and sustainable resource management.
