Kwara : DHQ Condemns Attack On Woro, Kaiama LG

The Defence Headquarters, DHQ has condemned the recent terrorist attack on Woro and nearby communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing it as a cowardly assault that claimed innocent lives.

In a statement signed by the Director, Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the DHQ expressed deep shock over the incident and sympathised with families of victims.

The military also praised the people of Woro for standing firm against threats and refusing to yield to extremist pressure.

According to the DHQ, the terrorists had earlier approached the community seeking permission to hold a preaching and indoctrination session, but the request was rejected by residents.

The military said it was promptly informed and deployed troops to dominate the area through patrols, surveillance and other security measures for about two weeks.

The Defence Headquarters urged Nigerians to remain loyal to the Constitution and their beliefs, while resisting any form of ideological indoctrination by violent extremist groups.

It called on citizens across ethnic, religious and regional lines to remain united, stressing that national unity and resilience remain the strongest defence against terrorism.

The DHQ reaffirmed its commitment to protecting all Nigerians and urged increased cooperation between citizens and security agencies, assuring that efforts are being intensified to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
