FCT 2026 : INEC To Commence Distribution Of PVCs

Background

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is to commence distribution of Permanent Voter Cards ahead of next Month’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT Area Council Election.

The FCT INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Aminu Idris who stated this while addressing newsmen in Abuja said the commission has made adequate provision for smooth collection of the cards in all registration areas across the Sixty Two Political wards and the Six Area Councils INEC offices.

Mallam Aminu Idris explained that the PVCs of those who registered in the last registration as well as those who sought for relocation in the territory were available for collection during the five day exercise.

He emphasized that the commission had met with security agencies for the smooth collection while officials would be deployed to enable rural dwellers collect the cards.

According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the electoral body will continue to engage with stakeholders and Civil Society Organizations for all eligible voters to participate in the Area Council Election.

He explained that only people with permanent voter cards would be allowed to exercise their franchise during the poll.

Mallam Aminu Idris stressed that the commission was holding meetings with Transport Union Leaders to ensure smooth deployment of Election Materials on time to some identified difficult terrains to ensure that eligible residents participate in the exercise .

He assured that people with disabilities have also been adequately considered in the February Area Council Election.

Mallam Aminu Idris reiterated the readiness of the commission to comply with any Court order whenever the need arises.
