Kapital FM 92.9 The Station that Rocks!
The National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) of the People’s Republic of China and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China have launched the China-Africa Audiovisual Showcase in Nigeria.
The event is coming is coming on the eve of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria next year and the upcoming 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
Addressing the gathering, the First-Grade Counsel of the Department of International Cooperation, NRTA) Mr Shi Zhiyan noted that China and Nigeria had enjoyed a long-standing friendship across generations.
He said the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Nigeria has been further elevated, becoming an important model of China-Africa cooperation under the strategic guidance of the two Heads of State.
”Guided by the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith, NRTA has continued to advance China-Nigeria radio , television and audiovisual cooperation, yielding fruitful outcomes.”
According to him, ”Under the China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum mechanism, the policy dialogue has remained smooth, exchanges of visits have been frequent, and program exchange and mutual screening have become increasingly robust.”
”Chinese audiovisual programs such as Minning Town and Ode to Joy have been broadcast in Nigeria to wide acclaim.”
He pointed out that Nigerian documentaries including Natives of the Hills and The Lagos–Ibadan Railway have aired on China’s mainstream media platforms, further deepening mutual understanding between the two peoples.
Mr Shi Zhiyan promised that the programs would bring fresh audiovisual experiences to Nigerian audiences.
”At the same time, China warmly welcomes recommendations of outstanding Nigerian audiovisual programs and will coordinate their broadcast on major Chinese media platforms, using audiovisual works to promote cultural exchange and people-to-people bonds between China and Nigeria.”
In a message to the event, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammed Idriss reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening media and cultural cooperation with China, describing the China-Africa Audio Visual Showcase as a major milestone in deepening bilateral ties.
The minister noted that the initiative was designed to promote cultural exchange, and foster mutual understanding through jointly produced content for radio, television, and digital platforms.
On his part, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Yu Dunhai, commended the bis lateral relationship between Nigeria and China
He noted that both countries had consistently supported each other on issues touching core interests, stressing that China would continue to assist Nigeria.
The initiative has selected nearly 20 outstanding Chinese audiovisual programmes, including “Welcome to Milele Village,” “The Ideal City,” “Meng Wa,” “Monsters in the Forbidden City,” “The Panda Adventure,” and “China Farm,” among others.
These programmes will be broadcast on platforms such as African Independent Television (AIT), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN).
