Six members of the Osun State caucus in the House of Representatives have accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of political interference and formally disowned a purported Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary held in Osun State.
In a statement in Abuja, the lawmakers Bamidele Salam, Mudashiru Lukman Alani, Akanni Clement Ademola, Adewale Moruf Adebayo, Adetunji Abidemi Olusoji, and Oladebo Lanre Omoleye condemned the primary as illegitimate, claiming it was organised with “thugs and political jobbers” from Ibadan, Oyo State.
They warned the purported candidate, Adebayo Adedamola Fryo, against claiming the PDP nomination for the 2026 governorship election, describing such an action as “criminal impersonation.”
The statement criticised Governor Makinde’s conduct, saying it threatened the political stability of Osun State.
The lawmakers also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard the results of the alleged primary and ensure candidate selection follows the PDP Constitution and Nigeria’s Electoral Act.
The PDP lawmakers said established party procedures require elections of ward and national delegates before any valid primary can be conducted.
