Their participation forms a critical part of the Federation’s broader preparation program ahead of the Africa Youth Games taking place from December 10–20, 2025, in Angola.
President Chamberlain noted that sending the athletes to competitive action ahead of the Youth Games reinforces the Federation’s commitment to elite athlete development.
He emphasized that exposure to continental events such as the Open Water Championships enhances readiness, sharpens competitive instincts, and strengthens Nigeria’s overall performance outlook for upcoming engagements.
NAqF remains confident in the abilities of Timileyin and Udoh, commending their discipline, focus, and steady improvement throughout the local camp. The Guinea Conakry outing is expected to further boost their preparation for the main continental showpiece next month.
The Federation wishes the athletes a successful campaign as they represent Nigeria with pride and determination.
